Looking down over the Nineveh Plains of northern Iraq. Mosul (ancient Nineveh) is about 25 miles across the plain. This is the same region the prophets Jonah and Nahum were called to preach; Nahum is said to be buried in the village you can see at the foot of the mountain.
Half Dome (and Yosemite in general) is worth every minute. I wasn't expecting these formations on such a giant scale.
